Project Variety

When you work for us, you won't be stuck in a rut of producing designs for one type of project. At Schemmer, you will have the opportunity to stretch your imagination to the limit and work on multiple project types. We work on projects large and small, from studies to construction documents, for public and private sectors, of different building types and different building systems.

The Schemmer Associates Inc. has an immediate opening for a Registered Mechanical Engineer in our Omaha office. Work independently as Project Engineer on HVAC, fire protection, piping, plumbing and temperature controls projects.

The successful candidate will be providing mechanical layout, design, and construction services with new and existing buildings for industrial, private, governmental and utility clients. Design work also includes participation in planning, cost development scheduling and coordination with utilities, electrical systems, structures, machines, equipment and processes. Other tasks may include energy modeling, LEED projects and green design.

Markets served by Schemmer include K-12 and higher education, industrial, commercial, senior living, healthcare, institutional and governmental. This position provides opportunities for direct client contact and leadership of project team members.

Qualifications

  • P.E. certification required
  • 5-8 years HVAC, Mechanical Piping, and Plumbing Design experience required
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
  • Knowledge of procedures for design and the production of construction documents
  • Knowledge of mechanical planning, layout, drafting, and detailing is preferred
  • Knowledge of computer applications associated with Mechanical Engineering design for buildings, including Revit.
  • Work performed with minimal supervision
  • Technically skilled with an emphasis on quality
  • Good leadership, communication and organizational skills
  • Experience working in a design firm serving similar market sectors.
