Job Description


CDM Service Group is a centralized office that provides our Construction, Distribution, and Manufacturing companies with various administrative functions, services, and support for their businesses.   We are looking for a motivated, highly organized, team player to join our team in Omaha, NE as a Payroll Accountant. This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities of the Payroll Accountant include:

  • Balance and verify all weekly field payrolls.

  • Analyze, prepare, and input payroll data for all office payrolls.
  • Deposit Federal & FICA Tax withholding weekly.

  • Prepare and file State Withholding Taxes and all quarterly taxes including the Employer Federal Tax (Form 941) and State/Federal Unemployment Taxes.

  • File & reconcile yearly W-2s and W-3s to each state and the Social Security Office.

  • State registrations and annual report filings for all units.

  • Understand and input Union rate changes as well as setting up Union reciprocity rules in Penta.

  • Maintain Federal job sick leave accrual setup in Penta.

  • File annual Federal Unemployment Form.

  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.) for management.

  • Responsible for payroll end of month/quarter processing.

  • Process Benefits and 401k payroll deductions.

  • Maintain the Vacation Reconciliation for multiple business units.

  • Attend and participate in all required company training.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Skill / Requirements


We are looking for someone with:

  • 2-5 years of experience with payroll, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Knowledge of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles, including financial reporting, balance sheets, accounts payable, payroll, reconciliations, and general ledger.

  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.

  • Knowledge of Windows applications, including Microsoft Office and Accounting/Payroll software.
